Reilly Adhesive V-80 Coal Tar enamel primer is a fast-drying, low VOC primer that can be applied by brush or by rug. The Adhesive V-80 primer has been specifically formulated to meet the 2006 EPA VOC emissions regulation and to comply with the performance criteria for a Type B (fast-drying, synthetic) primer as specified in AWWA C203, NACE RPO399 and RPO602.

The Adhesive V-80 Synthetic Primer has a VOC content, as determined by EPA Method 24, of 68 g/L. The VOC content is well below the 2006 EPA VOC emissions level of 100 g/L. The Adhesive V-80 synthetic primer meets the lower VOC emissions level as the result of formulating the primer with solvents that are considered exempt by the EPA. The solvents are considered exempt by the US EPA, the California South Coastal Air Quality Board and the State of Arizona Air Quality Board. The solvents are considered exempt because they are not photochemically reactive and therefore they do not react with UV radiation to reduce the atmospheric ozone.

The Adhesive V-80 Primer produces superior adhesion between the steel substrate and all grades of hot applied coal tar enamel. The primer will produce excellent adhesion when used with Reilly AWWA C230 A, Reilly Type I, Reilly Type II and the new NSF certified “Reilly Special Blend Coal Tar Enamel”. The primer is environmentally friendly and produces the same excellent corrosion protection as the entire line of Vertellus coatings products.

Do not use Adhesive V-80 on hot service lines when the operating temperature exceeds 160 °F.
